I've watched the movies a bagillion times probably 2 - 3 times a year some times more and haven't ever read the books.

Bought the first book last night and started reading.

Just ban his account until he sends you a book report on the entire series.

Really good books Pete. The Sci-Fi movie followed it fairly close, and the Children of Dune series they did was pretty friggin bang one. A few things here and there were out, but not enough to really criticize it. The David Lynch Dune is another story. While entertaining, it butchered the story pretty good.

I've not yet read any of the later books the Frank Herbert's son has done, which I think is now more than Frank did himself. I've heard they're actually pretty good though.

Hmm.. That's pretty much the world of Dune for me at the moment. Epic Toto sound track and Sting acting I love it so.

Yeh I grew up watching that movie. When I read the books in highschool I realized how poor it actually was. The whole sound guns thing was.. Yeh...

I do still watch it from time to time.

And yes, Toto FTW!

I saw the film then read the book and the book is way better. Don't get me wrong the film is one of my favourites and I like watching it over and over but there is so much missing from the book.
I did read some of the sequels but didn't like the story as much as the original

Really enjoying the whopping 30 pages I've read so far (slow reader).

Sent via mobile internet.

I ended up liking every other book. Dune was great, Messiah not so much. Children was great, God Emperor was not as good, but better than Messiah. The last two were about the same, with Chapterhouse having the edge.
