So i just brought my computer home from my dorm where it was working fine. as it is in my rom now I bought the XAVB1004 from netgear to connect it from my room t the router in the computer room. That device works great as I have tried my laptop with it and it works. I can connect to the internet as i have set u my router on my computer( the one that i took from my dorm) but only google loads, i can also search in google, and youtube loads where i can oddly watch videos no problem. I have tried reinstalling my ethernet drivers, winsock reset, checking/unchecking just about every setting in internet options and so on. No browser seems to work and I am out of ideas. I turned firewall off as well to no prevail. I have no clue where to look next as 3 days ago my computer worked fine and all I did now was move it. if you guys have any ideas please contribute :)
i also tried using googles dns server and everything on ipconfig has an address

Some wierd proxy setting left from dorm?
Have you tried with different browsers?
Have you verified that you do get proper dns resolution?

If all else fails, you can always reinstall windows. ;)

Unless there's a special dorm windows then i doubt a reinstall is needed.

Sent via mobile internet.

can you resolve other web sites in DNS?
can you navigate to other web sites by IP address?
can you ping other ip address? say 4.2.2.2
what happens when you traceroute to 4.2.2.2?

I sorta joked, but while there's almost certainly someway to solve it without reinstalling windows, he might come to the
point where after trying everything he can think of as well as support via forums and still not get it to work, then it might just easier and faster to just reinstall.
