Cisco 1921 ISR and Add in POE PSU question

Fri May 04, 2012 1:21 am

I have a 1921 I am going to move to my small business office and I am going to order the 8 port EHWIC for it that supports POE.

I understand the absolute necessity to have POE Power Supply installed before installing a POE WIC.

Cisco references this part number but there isn't hardly any information about this product. Could you please assist by describing this product in more detail than Cisco appears to not do.

I am also curious if this replaces the internal power supply or do I add it on as an addition. Thanks and anyone with hands on experience with 1905/21 series is appreciated.

Here is the part number from Cisco to support POE EHWIC cards = PWR-1900-POE its about $160.00 for the PSU.

I don't know on the 1900s, but the 2800s you had to open the case, and swap out the power supply. If I had to guess I would think it is the same way. It isn't like the new 3750x or larger routers with removable power supplies.
