My colleague here has been in the lab for a few days with our J-Series router running JUNOS 9, it has 4 interfaces on the front numbered 0 to 3, however we thought it was 1-4. So in the CLI he went into GE 4 and started configuring.... only to find out that it was numbered 0 to 3.... so does anyone know why the router didnt tell us that GE Interface 4 doesn't exist...... it just let us carry on!

So why doesn't it tell us the port didn't exist ?
