Tip of the day, just learned this, the telnet client was not removed from Win7, only hidden,

to enable
start -> control Panel
double click on Programs and Features
click on Turn Windows features on an off
scroll down to Telnet client
click in check box to enable
click on ok

Awsome....

Yeh I discovered that a couple weeks ago. Things like this is why I hate MS. There is just no reason for it.

:?: not hidden on my Win 7 Professional installs. Maybe on Enterprise versions to prevent the "bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing" crowd from using it.

Pft. Unless I get a traceroute feature in windows like that of linux I couldn't care less for windows.

Actually even if they did give me that I don't think I'd use it. I want a linux desktop with xenapp for Visio.

Doesn't have the same features as traceroute. The big one for me is specifying UDP or TCP (firewall changes).

I discovered this when I first installed Windows 7. I was shocked.

But then again, traceroute is not installed by default with Ubuntu for many years either. Even the server edition...

They first did this with Vista after it was enabled at stock in XP. Can only guess it was security reasons why it was disabled.
