wi-fi Protected Mode on a Linksys router by Cisco

Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:57 am

Hello Everyone,

I am having a minor problem at home with my wireless AP. I have a Linksys WRT110 and it has a feature called Wi-Fi Protected Mode which I happen to like as for security but it is a pain to have when you're the only one in the house that knows how to enter the PINs into the router. I would like to disable this and just use other methods to secure the wi-fi but every time disable it and click "Save" it's like it doesn't like being disabled. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Well I figured out why I wasn't able to disable it. I had the security mode set to WPA2-Personal and I just realized that the Wi-Fi Protected mode is part of the WPA2. I'm wondering if it's possible to use the WPA2 security mode without having to enter a PIN number every time a device wants to connect.
