I am trying to set up a simple network with GNS and virtualbox. I have attached the topology along with the IP scheme.

R1 LAN = /16
R2 LAN = /24
R3 LAN = /24
Serials = /30

The only thing I have configured on the routers is the interface IP addresses and added a route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 to the routers R2 and R3.

When I ping from a VM on the R1 LAN, I can ping all the way to R2 & R3's serial interfaces.

However, if I ping from a VM on the R2 or R3 routers, can only ping to the serial interfaces from the LAN on that router. So from 192.168.1.4 I can only ping as far as 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.1.5 can only ping as far as 192.168.0.6.

Why would I be able to ping further from the computer attached to the R1 router?

All are 2691 routers with the exact same IOS.

your C2 and C3 network are the same, make 1 192.168.2.x other 192.168.1.x

what does the routing table on R1 look like ?

Hm. Well I do need those networks to be the same because I'm testing a scenario with the software my company makes to see if we have an issue.

If I can't do this with the routers directly connected by serial links, is there a way I could simulate an "internet"? What I need to have is our product installed on a network and two computers on two completely separate networks but with the same address scheme (like I showed). I then need one computer from each of the other two networks to be able to contact the server application of our product (using virtualbox VMs).

Is there a somewhat easy way to simulate that (an "internet") in GNS?

add another router on the "outside"
that router will be the internet.

Thank you.

I have attached my updated topology and I can ping to the R1 LAN from the R2 router but if I try to ping from the virtualbox machine attached to C2 (R2 LAN) it won't go through. I have the computer set up in the 192.168.1.x network.

Any suggestions on what I might have configured wrong or something else I can show here on the forum?

Thank you.

Yes I have the all the addresses set up and the default gateways. And you can see the schemes in the first post as well.

I was not able to trace route from the computer...well I did but it fails after hitting the first router.

Post your routing tables and configs from each router.
