I am studying the atributies of BGP.

Then when i want to change Local - preference and AS-PATH we will used the PREFIX-LIST. But if we want to change the MED (metric) will used ACCESS-LIST.

I have tryed to change the local-preference atributte with ACCESS-LIST but is impossible. The what is the difference between PREFIX-LIST and ACCESS-LIST?

Thanks,

Thanks,

The document tell that in the ACL we needs a line to each network in prefix-list we can to restrict in only line wuth ge, le.

But i think that in ACL also we can to permit various networks:

access-list permit 192.168.2.0 0.0.255.255 //here will permitted very networks

that ACL will permit anything from 192.168.1.2/16 all the way to 192.168.255.255/32 including all bit boundys inbetween.

The prefix-list gives you more options when doing certain things
