Whew. I started studying over a year ago, took the exam last June, failed by a point or two. Then life got in the way, I quit studying until this May, since then I've put in about 10 hours a week, and passed it this morning.

I used Odom's ICND1 and 2 books, a Boson Simmax exam, and I have a small pile of routing and switching gear: 2x1721, 2x2950, 2x3550. I also get to help manage a small enterprise network at work with 6509's, ASA's, 2811's, 2911's, 3560, 2960s, etc
I think the most helpful thing was the practice tests---doing them in simulation mode, then going back over missed questions on the same exam, it seemed to drill more little factoids into my brain. I think I did 6 full on simulations in timed mode in the last 3 days.
