Hell yeah. Thanks. This may be my next exam. Not sure which CCIP of the 3 I want to do first though.

most certainly do BGP before MPLS, there is a ton of BGP on the MPLS exam.

I don't know if it's "general knowledge", but to convert AF values to DSCP:

AF vw --> DSCP xy

xy = (v*8)+(w*2)

Example AF 43:
AF (4x8)+(3*2) = DSCP 38

Example AF 22:
AF (2x8)+(2x2) = DSCP 20

I seriously don't know if I just "invented" this shortcut or not, but christ I'm happy.

edit
awwww man I didn't invent it, actually this guy explains it exactly the same way:

Certs: CCNP , CCIP , 530010.
It can be done by remembering how many bits the different markings use. For example CoS uses three bits to mark. DiffServ uses 6. ToS is 6 bit DSCP + 2 bits for ECN.

Example :

CoS : 0 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7
DSCP : 0 , 8 , 16, 24 , 32 , 46 , 48 , 56

dscp = cos X 8
for AF it's just that plus those 2 bits. The way I see it is that you;ll go mad if you try to get this stuff or remember it. It has no importance whatsoever. None. Mark on L2 or L3 , do the what u need to do and don't think about it. It is relevant only when doing mappings and I seriously doubt that a provider maps that shit. They do communities that only transport Ip precedence.
Also there is a command like sh mls qos map(s) cos-dscp (or other maps). There are the DSCP mutations. Again... you have to be really mad to learn these :)

Thanks for the info. I realize they have many exams they don't have books for, but I didn't think an entry level exam would be a good place to do that. Thanks again.

642-642 QoS is actually not retired, yet. Its still usable against CCNP Voice and some Telephony Specialist cert. Also hardly an entry level exam eh :)
