Was much easier than I expected, studied on/off 4 months; 978/1000. I used the Cisco Press book and CBT nugget training videos by Keith Barker (the nuggets were good but need work).

What would I recommend studying to those attempting this exam? Every feature of the ASA, literally right down to knowing the logging levels and connection table flags. No questions on software versions post 8.4.1 (not sure if I'm allowed to say that?).

I'm looking into getting the CCNP before I get the CCNP security as I think my workplace would benefit more. I only did the 642-618 as we're installing 5510s and 20s on projects.

Could anybody hazard a guess at when the current CCNP ROUTE, SWITCH and TSHOOT are likely to be retired? The Cisco.com website says they were revised January 2010 so I guess quite soon? I guess I should also start another post with a different subject but anybody willing to share with me what equipment I'll need for the CCNP labs? I can use GNS3 no issue but sometimes I like to have the realworld stuff there too.

Generally speaking, would it be good to know Cisco ACS?

Someone else I spoke to had a single ACS question, but I did not (is this breaking the NDA?) For the workplace in SME and above it would be useful to install ACS as the Accounting features are very useful. The 642-618 press book brushes very lightly on the subject.

also, what version of ASDM did you lab with? I'm running 6.4(9) Demo and going through the OCG, in the NAT chapter, the ASDM NAT configurations are quite a bit different between the book and what I can do in the ASDM Demo.

In the book there's two sections on NAT, pre 8.3 NAT configuration and post 8.3 configuration what section are you on as the 6.4(9) demo will almost certainly showing you post 8.3. I labbed with 6.4(9).
